How to Assign a Self-Paced Course to a Learner in SimpliTrain
Assigning a self-paced course in SimpliTrain allows learners to access the required course materials and begin their independent training. A course assignment is essential for learners to launch activities in a self-paced course. Follow these steps to create a course assignment:
Steps to Assign a Self-Paced Course
- Navigate to Course Assignment

- Go to the “Create Course Assignment” option.
- This will redirect you to the Create Course Assignment page.
- Complete the Basic Information
- Select Learner: Choose the learner’s name to whom the course will be assigned.
- Select Course: Choose the course to assign from the available list.
- Set Expiration Date: By default, this is set to 6 months but can be customized based on the learner’s needs.
- Target Completion Date: Specify the desired date for the learner to complete the course.
- Hours Spent: This can be recorded after the learner completes the assignment.
- Grade: Enter the learner’s grade after they complete the assignment.
- Include Labs: Uncheck this box if you want to exclude lab content from the course.
- Include SCORM Modules: Uncheck this box if you want to exclude video content from the course.
Payment Information

- The payment type must be associated with an order in the CRM system.
- SimpliTrain searches for relevant orders based on the learner’s account and the selected course.
- Select the appropriate payment type from the dropdown menu.
- Add Notes (Optional)
- You may include additional information in the Notes field if necessary.
- Save the Assignment
- Click the Save button to finalize the course assignment.
Additional Details
- Once the course assignment is created, the learner is automatically enrolled in sessions associated with the course.
- Learners must have an active course assignment to access and complete activities in a self-paced course.
This structured process ensures that learners can seamlessly begin their self-paced study with all necessary materials and guidelines in place.
